Thanks for the appreciation Tejaswi! Beyond of beauty, it is a very important place for the catholic religion. Here is buried Giovanni di Pietro di Bernadone (1182-1226), known by clerical name Saint Francis. He founded religious order of the Franciscan Monks, who had an important role in developing and promoting of the catholic religion.
I know 🙂 My daughter goes to a school called St. Francis Assisi school.. so several times a year my daughter is told to get plants in pots, to grow something at home (!!) or to draw posters and paintings to depict nature etc. Which is something that falls on me in the end 🙂 Thank you, yes, very informative too.
If the fame of Saint Francis, came to India, then imagine what huge personality was for the catholic religion. Although Romania (and me) is a country with Christian Orthodox religion, i was happy that i had the opportunity to pray at the tomb of Saint Francis.
yes, the Franciscan order is here too.. 🙂
This is a stunning photograph!
